When should I buy travel insurance?

It's probably best to buy travel insurance as soon as you book your trip. This ensures that you will have cancellation cover in place before you travel, which is important if you need to cancel your trip for a reason that is covered by your policy.

Should I choose Single Trip or Annual Multi-Trip cover?

Single Trip cover is designed for one journey. Annual Multi-Trip cover may suit you if you expect to travel more than once during the year. Annual policies have a maximum duration for each individual trip, depending on your age and chosen level of cover, so check the limits before buying.

Can I get travel insurance with a pre-existing medical condition?

You may be able to get cover, but you must declare any pre-existing medical conditions during the medical screening process. Cover only applies where the condition has been declared and accepted. If your health changes before you travel, contact us so your cover can be reviewed.

Do I still need travel insurance if I have an EHIC?

Yes. An EHIC can give you access to certain state healthcare services while travelling in participating European countries, but it is not a replacement for travel insurance. It does not cover things such as cancellation, lost baggage, private healthcare or the cost of returning you to Ireland.
