Real-Time Flight Delay
A delayed flight can disrupt your trip before it’s even started. InsureandGo’s Real-Time Flight Delay benefit can provide airport lounge access for registered travellers when an eligible flight is delayed for three hours or more.
If a participating lounge isn’t available, each registered traveller can receive a €30 payment instead. The benefit is included with Gold and Platinum products. You need to register your flight in advance – if you have an eligible policy you can register your flights here.
Real-Time Flight Delay at a glance
What is Real-Time Flight Delay?
Real-Time Flight Delay is an added benefit available with InsureandGo Gold and Platinum cover. It’s designed to make a delayed flight more comfortable by arranging lounge access for registered travellers. Where lounge access is not available, the benefit provides a €30 cash payment for each registered traveller instead.
It’s not automatic for every flight on your trip. Each flight and traveller needs to be registered correctly, the flight must depart during the period of insurance, and the other policy conditions must be met.
How Real-Time Flight Delay works
- Buy an active Gold or Platinum policy that includes the benefit.
- Create a Real-Time Flight Delay account and register the insured travellers who will be taking the flight.
- Register the flight at least two hours before its original scheduled departure time.
- If the registered flight is delayed for three hours or more, the benefit is sent by SMS and email, subject to the policy terms.

What happens if my flight is delayed?
When the registered flight has been delayed for three hours or more, the primary contact receives an SMS and email with the benefit details.
If lounge access is available, each registered traveller receives a lounge pass. The QR code needs to be shown at the lounge. Entry remains subject to that lounge’s opening hours, rules and age restrictions, and children may need to be accompanied by an adult.
If a lounge isn’t available, each registered traveller receives a €30 payment to the bank account registered in the Real-Time Flight Delay account. All registered travellers receive the same benefit. You can’t choose the cash payment instead when a lounge pass is available.
Who can use the benefit
The benefit is available to insured people named on an active Gold or Platinum policy who are registered for the relevant flight in the Real-Time Flight Delay account. The registered flight must depart during the period of insurance.
Only one account is needed for everyone insured on the policy. If the policy covers more than one person, one insured person aged 18 or over must be selected as the primary contact.
Important conditions and exclusions
The benefit applies only to insured people named on an active Gold or Platinum policy and registered for the relevant flight. The flight must be registered at least two hours before its original scheduled departure.
Other conditions and exclusions apply. Chartered flights and delays connected with a natural disaster are not covered under this benefit. Please read the policy wording for full details.
How this differs from delayed departure cover
Real-Time Flight Delay and delayed departure cover are separate policy benefits. Real-Time Flight Delay uses advance flight registration to provide lounge access or the alternative cash benefit described above.
Delayed departure, missed departure or connection, and abandonment are covered under a different section of your policy. They have different qualifying events, delay periods, evidence requirements and benefit limits. The delayed departure section excludes the benefit received under Real-Time Flight Delay. You should read both sections and get in touch with the claims team if you’re not sure which section applies.
Before you travel

- Create the Real-Time Flight Delay account before the journey.
- Register every traveller and flight within the required time.
- Use contact and bank details that will remain accessible while abroad.
- Keep the policy wording and assistance numbers available during the trip.

How long does my flight need to be delayed?
The flight needs to be delayed by three or more hours.
How early should I register my flight?
You need to register your flight at least two hours before its original scheduled departure time. Register early so you reduce the risk of missing the deadline!
How many flights can I register?
You can register up to four flights on a single trip policy and up to 12 flights on an annual multi-trip policy.
What will I receive if my flight qualifies?
Each registered traveller receives a VIP lounge pass. If a lounge isn’t available, each registered traveller receives a €30 payment instead, subject to the policy terms.
Can I choose the cash payment instead of lounge access?
No. The €30 payment applies when a lounge is unavailable. The policy excludes a cash payment where a lounge pass is available but the traveller chooses not to use it.
Can everyone on my policy use the benefit?
Yes, if each person is insured under the policy and registered for the flight. One account can be used for all insured people, with one insured adult selected as the primary contact.
Does the benefit apply when a natural disaster causes the delay?
No. Delays that are directly or indirectly caused by, resulting from or connected with a natural disaster are not covered under this benefit.
Is this the same as making a delayed departure claim?
No. Real-Time Flight Delay and delayed departure cover are separate benefits with different conditions. Check the relevant policy sections before making a claim or get in touch with the claims team if you need help.
